The Daur people first lived in Tao'er River (now Tao'er River) and later moved to the area of north of Heilongjiang Province in the mid-17th century.
Due to the invasion of Russian colonizers and the strengthening of Qing government's rule over the region, the Daur ancestors migrated from the Jingqili River valley south of the Outer Xing'an Mountains to the Nenjiang River valley,
Eventually settled in the Greater Khingan Range and Nenjiang River Basin.
